The Mansfield Downtown Partnership hosts its 9th Annual Winter Welcome on Saturday, December 4 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM in Downtown Storrs.

In addition to seasonal treats and specials at participating businesses, creative community displays, and a visit from Santa Claus, there will be a variety of performances to enjoy!

On Betsy Paterson Square:

  • 4:00 PM: E. O. Smith Choirs leads a Community Sing-Along
  • 4:30 PM: Performance by the Southeast School Singers and Songbirds
  • 5:00 PM: Seasonal songs with "The Snow Sisters"
  • 5:30 PM: The Nutcracker, a Community Production (film) by Mansfield Parks & Recreation and Miss Kelly Productions

Strolling through Downtown Storrs:

  • 4:15 PM: Consonare Choral Community - Choir Matrix
  • 5:00 PM: Mansfield Middle School Chorus
  • 5:30 PM: Husky Hungama

On Saturday, December 4 at 8:00 PM, Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts presents Boston Pops Holiday Concert! Celebrate the magic of the season with "America's orchestra." Perfect for music lovers of all ages, this beloved annual concert is just bursting with holiday music favorites. Treat yourself to a festive evening, including the traditional carol sing-along and a surprise visit by jolly old St. Nick.

Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts invites you to enjoy an evening of dance! The UConn Fall 2021 Dance Showcase featuring UConn Dance Company & University Ballet Company will be Tuesday, December 7 at 7:00 PM.

UConn Dance Company will perform in the first half of the program beginning at 7:00 PM, with University Ballet Company in the second half beginning at approximately 8:20 PM.

UConn Dance Company is a student run and choreographed dance company, established in 2008, with routines ranging from contemporary to hip hop. These talented students are excited for their first chance to perform in almost two years!

University Ballet Company will perform excerpts from The Nutcracker Ballet. This beautiful performance will include the dances of the Sugarplum Fairy, Dew Drop, and Snow Queen as well as corps performances following Clara's journey from the Battle Scene and Land of the Snowflakes to the Land of the Sweets.

On Saturday, December 11, Take Note! presents Music to Warm the Heart, Winter Concert to benefit the Windham Region No-Freeze Project. This free, a cappella concert will take place at 3:00 PM at Storrs Congregational Church (2 North Eagleville Road, Storrs).

Take Note! will accept donations at the door to benefit to benefit the Windham Region No-Freeze Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to the short and long-term survival of adults experiencing homelessness in our community.

On Saturday, December 11, Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts welcomes back Emmy and Tony Award-winning Kristin Chenoweth to Storrs! 

Enjoy an evening of good humor and personal reminiscences, featuring songs from her album, For the Girls, and selections from her latest album, Happiness is…Christmas! In fact, the Jorgensen audience will be treated with a preview of her one-night-only "Christmas at the Met" concert, on Monday, December 13th!

Her latest album, Happiness is…Christmas!, released on October 22, is her first collection of holiday music in more than a decade. The album features a delightful range of holiday favorites from “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Why Couldn’t It Be Christmas Every Day?,” and “Happiness (is Christmas)"/"Christmas Time Is Here,” a nod to Chenoweth’s Tony-winning portrayal of Sally Brown in the 1999 Broadway production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.

On Friday, December 17 at 7:00 PM, St. Mark's Episcopal Chapel will host Holiday Singing and Story Telling: A Celebration for All Ages.

The St. Mark's community invites everyone to enjoy an evening of holiday songs, stories, poems, and readings performed by UConn a cappella groups and St. Mark's Choir. There will be opportunities for everyone to sing classic carols. 

Masks are required. A festive outdoor reception will follow - dress warmly!
