  1. Literary Walk in Joshua’s Trust Whetten Woods Preserve

    August 10, 2021, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Joshua’s Trust: Whetten Wood’s

Join us for a book talk/walk in Joshua’s Trust beautiful Whetten Woods property. The literary walk will be facilitated by Joyce Fountain, financial administrator for Johsua’s Trust and avid lover of environmental fiction books. Our selected book for this event is Vesper Flights by Helen Macdonald, named one of the best books of the summer in 2020 by multiple publications. Called an essential writer on nature, humanity and loss by Time Magazine, Macdonald fills her narratives with vivid descriptions of the wildlife that surrounds us. The Mansfield Library has multiple copies of Vesper Flights available for check out. We will meet at the Trail Head located on Hanks Hill Road. A parking area is located on Hanks Hill Road, 0.4 miles east of Route 195 in Storrs. For additional information please contact Peggy McCarthy at the Mansfield Public Library @ 860.423.2501 or McCarthyML@MansfieldCT.org.

  2. Tuesday Night Zoom Book Discussion

    August 10, 2021, 6:45 PM - 8:00 PM

Mansfield Public Library’s Book Discussion Group has been meeting regularly since December 1996. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:45 to 8:00 p.m. During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are meeting on zoom. Please contact Pat McMullan mcmullanpc@mansfieldct.org if you’d like to receive an invitation to the zoom meeting. Our group continually welcomes new members. Although we don’t always like the same books, we always find something to talk about and usually something to laugh about, too. If you can only come on a “drop in-drop out” basis, that’s fine with us. If you haven’t finished the book, don’t worry about it! Copies of all books will be available at our library! Call 860-423-2501 to arrange for curbside pickup.
